The Scottish Midge Forecast App

The brief:

The televised Scottish Midge Forecast is put together by Dr Alison Blackwell from Edinburgh University, one of the world's leading midge experts. Our brief was to turn it into a handy App for anyone hitting Scotland's lochs, trails and mountains. 

Using midge data from traps around Scotland, together with a weather algorithm, the App gives users midge levels at points across Scotland. Users can also tweet midge levels from their exact location

Results:

In 2010 it won Best App at the DADIs.

 

A new brand is born

When Dr Blackwell decided to create an insect repellent that would truly fend off Scotland's pesky blighters, we were up for the challenge!

My role: 

I was part of the creative team who named the product, devised the tone of voice and produced the collateral needed to launch the new brand.

Results:

Smidge. Launched with next to no budget is now Scotland's number one insect repellent brand.

Also winner of a 2011 Marketing Society Marketing Star Award.
